Overview

MIT xPRO's Quantum Computing: Strategy and Impact course exists for a specific problem: senior leaders who can see that quantum matters but have no idea what to actually do on Monday morning. The sessions deliver practical guidance on integrating quantum computing into enterprise strategy rather than a physics primer.

The teaching centres on a six-step framework — assess why quantum matters now, secure executive sponsorship, set an appropriate strategy, mobilise the organisation, then experiment, learn and iterate before scaling. Experimentation and iteration are treated as phases in their own right, not a warm-up: scaling something the organisation hasn't learned from yet is the most expensive mistake available to a large enterprise.

Running underneath all six steps is quantum literacy. A capability that lives with a handful of specialists is a dependency, not an advantage, so the framework insists on building fluency across the business — which is what lets participants navigate both the opportunities and the threats this technology creates.
